Meet the Halonen Dentistry Staff!

Shanel-Office Manager

Shanel - Business Coordinator

I grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Pennfield in 2002. I have been working in the dental field since 2005. I love working with so many amazing people at Halonen Dentistry. I am very dedicated to making sure every patient is comfortable and happy while receiving care here. I am very honored to be part of a family run practice with such wonderful people to surround myself with every day. I have two daughters, Lexia and Madison. We love to spend all of our extra time in Traverse City, playing sports, snowmobiling and riding quads. We are a very active family. I look forward to watching my daughters grow and bring even more exciting things to our life.

I was born and raised in Battle Creek, entering into the dental field in 2002.  It is a passion for me to be able to help patients and make entering in the dental office a good experience.  My husband and I have one son, that is growing up too fast.  I enjoy reading and spending time with my family.  I'm looking forward to many years with Halonen Family Dentistry.

Michelle-Dental Hygienist

Michelle - Dental Hygienist

Dental hygiene has been a wonderful career choice for me.  I have been a hygienist since 1984 and have been fortunate to work with the Halonens since 1991. I am a member of the Michigan Dental Hygiene Society. I am on the Board of Advisors for the Dental Hygiene Program at Kellogg Community College.

I enjoy working with the many patients that I have met through the years. It is very rewarding to help anxious patients feel comfortable in our office. My favorite appointments are the young “first timers“. Is there anyone funnier than a three year old?

I have been blessed with two wonderful children. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with them as well as varied leisure activities such as mountain biking (gets my heart pumping) and cross-stitching (slows my heart back down!) I was involved in a border collie rescue organization for a number of years.

McKenzie - Dental Hygienist

I completed the Dental Hygiene program at KCC in 2001. My career in the dental field has been very rewarding. I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful practice here at Halonen Family Dentistry. Staying up-to-date on new technology and continuing our education is something we strive to do here. My main goal is to provide the best treatment possible for everyone that is in my care. I truly enjoy building relationships with my patients and do all that I can to make their visits enjoyable.

My husband and I have two awesome boys that are our pride and joy! Vacationing, watching movies and being outside are a few of our favorite things to do together.

I have been employed in the dental profession since 1977. I have been with the Halonen Family since 2000. I maintain integrity and honesty in all situations, both personally and professionally.  I take pride in making our patients feel comfortable and confident when assisting the doctors in all procedures.  When away from the office, I spend time with my family.  I have been married to my husband, Mike, since 1981.  We have four children and 4 granddaughters, and we continue to count our blessings.  In the summer we enjoy a family cottage and all the fun that goes along with a close family.

Tiffany-Dental Assistant

Tiffany - Dental Assistant

I have been in the dental field since 2007. Most of my dental career has been in community health. I have worked both sides, office and chairside.  I enjoyed working with so many diverse people; patients and the co-workers. Mid 2014 I chose to further my knowledge and career and start work in a family oriented private practice.  I have enjoyed working with the Halonens and the rest of our friendly staff.  I look forward to the years to come.  We each have our own fears and anxiety. I am dedicated to making our patients feel comfortable while receiving their dental care.

Away from the office I enjoy spending time with my husband Jeff, step-daughter Abbey, and beautiful son and daughter Ayden and Ashlyn, as well as our extended family members.

I grew up in and graduated from Bellevue. I've been in the dental field since 2013. I've worked both in public health and private offices. I enjoy meeting new people everyday, and making each patient as comfortable as they can be in the chair.  Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dylen, and my 3 children, Miles, Paisleigh and Adelynn. We love to spend time outside and riding quads.

Wendy-Dental Assistant

Wendy - Dental Assistant

I have been a Dental Assistant with Halonen Family Dentistry since 2013. I graduated from Everest in 2013 and was hired after completing my Dental Assisting externship with the office. I started with a full time position but after giving birth to my second child in 2015, I decided working part time was best for my family. My husband and I have been together for 16 years and we have two beautiful daughters. I am extremely grateful to get the best of both worlds. Staying home part time has allowed me the opportunity to homeschool my girls and develop a strong relationship with them. Working a few days a week is my main source of adult interaction.  I always enjoy the conversations I have with my co-workers and patients. I am beyond blessed to work with a small group of hard working and compassionate individuals at Halonen Family Dentistry.
